Make a Game

AI Summary:

This project involves designing and creating an original game by considering essential components such as target audience, rules, gameplay mechanics, materials, and environment. The process encourages initial ideation, detailed planning including game layout and instructions, and formalization of objectives and rules. Following construction, the game should be tested with users to gather feedback for refinement. Finally, reflective evaluation of the design process and gameplay outcomes is recommended to assess strengths and areas for improvement. This iterative approach fosters creativity, problem-solving, and critical analysis within game development.

Consider This

For this challenge, you will create a game. In order to create a successful game, you need to consider and make decisions on all the different components like a set of rules, number of players, the visual appearance and more! Who is your game designed for? Will the players be adults or children, will it be in English, do you need to know how to read to play? It could be played indoors or outdoor, and could be board game, a carnival game, an arcade game, a game that involves dice, a ball, figures, etc. Could you code a game? It’s your game, design it however you like!

Your Goal

Create a new game! A game has goals and sometimes rules. It could be a board game, carnival game, arcade game, or even a video game you code. Use anything you want—dice, balls, figures, or other materials. It’s your game, so be creative!

Answer these questions:

  • What is the name of your game?
  • What is the goal or objective?
  • What are the rules?
  • How do you win?

Step 4: Build Your Game

Use your materials to make your game.

Step 5: Test Your Game
  • Have someone play your game.
  • Watch and listen carefully.
  • Is the game too hard or too easy?
  • What changes could make it more fun?
  • Take notes and use feedback to improve!

Step 6: Play and Reflect
  • Play your finished game!
  • Think about your project from start to finish.
  • What went well?
  • What could have been better?
