Build A Prosthetic Arm

For this challenge, you will create an arm, prosthetic, crane, grabbing device – whatever you would like to call it – that can grab, pick up and move an object from one spot to another. Use recyclables, craft materials and/or building toys. Be creative! What is the maximum distance an object can be that can still be picked up and moved?

01. Generate an idea. How can you complete this task? What materials do you have that could help you make a rollercoaster track? How are you going to keep the “marble” on track? What else could you add to bring more creativity and originality?
02. Design and Build a prototype. What can you use to create a roller coaster? Can you create a ramp? Or even a loop de loop? What other materials can you use? What could you use as supports? What else could you add to make your roller coaster stand out from the other roller coasters? Tip – Fold the paper to create a channel/track for the marble to roll in. You can change this design to have your marble do many things.
03. Share your idea. Film a short (Max 2 min video) pitch of your invention. Include details like who is it for, what problem does it solve, etc. Have fun! Upload/share your video to twitter, facebook or Instagram. Don't forget to tag us!
